Terror Grapplers Ranked 23rd in Latest Poll
Howard and Winfield Ranked

The McDaniel College wrestling team is ranked 23rd in the nation by the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Poll. Two McDaniel wrestlers, Tony Howard and Andrew Winfield, are nationally ranked in their weight class.

Howard is ranked second in the nation behind Augsburg's Ryan Valek at 165 pounds, while Winfield is ranked sixth in the nation at 174 pounds. The Green Terror has been ranked in the top 30 in each of the three polls released this season, climbing as high as 22nd. This marks the second consecutive poll which has both Howard and Winfield ranked individually.

McDaniel Trio Earns All-Region Honors

Two soccer players and one football player at McDaniel College earned the distinction of All-Region status following the 2005 campaigns.

Scott Morrow, the 2005 Centennial Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year, was named All-Mid Atlantic Region, First Team, by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), while his teammate, goalkeeper Andrew Wu was named to the NSCAA’s Second Team in the region. named Ron Ringgold to its All-South Region Second Team.

On the soccer field, Morrow anchored a defensive unit that limited its opponents to 0.78 goals per game. McDaniel shut out the opposition in 13 of its 21 games this season, including a nine-game stretch in October and November.

Morrow’s unit provided the first line of defense, while Wu, who also earned All-Centennial First Team honors, served as a dominant backstop. The senior keeper was in net from start to finish in nine of McDaniel’s 13 shutouts and posted a 0.39 goals against average. He worked 752:42 consecutive scoreless minutes during a stretch of the season.

The Green Terror soccer team finished the season with a mark of 14-4-3.

Ringgold, a middle linebacker on McDaniel’s 5-5 football team, recorded 136 tackles, the fifth most prolific season of stops in McDaniel’s football history. His 72 solo tackles represent the fifth best season on record in that category. Amongst his tackles were four sacks. He also forced a fumble and recorded three interceptions and tacked on 77 return yards, 41 of which came on a touchdown return in the win against Ursinus.
